Kelly Freberg-Ash, MD

Board Certified in Family Medicine Dr. Ash graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern Michigan University in Marquette and received her medical degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing. She completed her post graduate training at the Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies Family Medicine Residency Program in Kalamazoo, MI.

Dr. Kristi King-Flath

Dr. Kristi King-Flath received her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology/Physiology at Northern Michigan University in 2001.  She attended Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed the Rural Physician program graduating from MSU-CHM in 2005.   She completed her residency at Miami Valley Family Practice Residency Program in Dayton, OH in 2008.  Her interests include women’s health, diabetes, preventative medicine and she enjoys patient education.   Dr. Kristi King- Flath will be working as a physician in the Rural Health Clinic.

Mary Noble graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI and earned a Masters Degree in Medicine from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI.

Rodney Riesland, NP

Rod Riesland graduated from Northern Michigan University in Marquette Michigan with his Masters of Science degree in Nursing.

Rod is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and specializes in Family medicine and Non-Narcotic headache management. He is also certified in Concussion Management/Sports Neurology, Headache Management and Botox Therapy.

Tracey Marino, MSN, FNP-C

Tracey  Marino started her career in 1987 as a respiratory therapist at the University of Michigan Hospital.  She then moved to Northern Michigan in the 1990’s and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Economics from LSSU in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. She spent several years in hospital management before returning to nursing school.  As a nurse she worked in mental health and the emergency room.  Tracey obtained her Master degree in Nurse Practitioner from St. Joseph’s College in Standish Maine.  She has several years of experience in family practice, urgent care, and emergency medicine.  Her special interests include infectious disease, wilderness/ emergency medicine, and asthma/COPD teaching and management.

Tracey Marino is a native of Grand Rapids, MI and has lived in the UP for 12 years.  She enjoys all of the outdoor recreational activities available here. Her husband and their three dogs, enjoy hunting, fishing ad skiing together.  She also enjoy cooking and playing the guitar and piano.

Jessica Rochefort, NP-C

Jessica Rochefort graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and Simmons College of Nursing with a Master of Science in Nursing degree.

Jessica is Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Prior to obtaining her Nurse Practitioner she worked in the Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical Department, Diabetic Education, and as an Instructor for Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

John D. Niemela, D.P.M.

Dr. Niemela is an Upper Peninsula native from Marquette, MI. He graduated with Honors from Michigan State University with a Bachelors Degree majoring in Medical Technology. He completed a one year internship for Medical Technology at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan. Following the internship, he worked as a Medical Technologist for three years at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph, Michigan before attending medical school at Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.  Before receiving his medical school degree, he earned a second bachelors degree from Scholl College: Bachelors in Biology.  Dr. Niemela then graduated from the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in 2002, Magna Cum Laude, with a Doctorate. Following medical school, he was accepted to a three year surgical residency at the Legacy Portland Hospital/Kaiser (PSR 36) Surgical Residency Program.  Upon completion of his residency, he started in private practice in Marquette, Michigan and has provided complete foot and ankle care from neonates to geriatric patients for over 12 years.

Clinical services at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital include, evaluation and treatment of all foot and ankle conditions below the knee. This includes treatment for orthopedic deformities (bunions, hammer toes, flatfeet, arthritis ankle/foot), sports medicine conditions (tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, sprains), warts (hands and feet), ingrown nails, wound care (below the knee), masses/tumors, and diabetic foot care. Some of the services he provides include custom orthotics, injections and diabetic shoes. Surgical care provided includes: bunion/tailors bunion/hammer toe repair, forefoot/midfoot/rearfoot/ ankle reconstruction (everything below the knee). I also provide traumatic reconstruction including emergent fracture repair of the ankle, foot, and toes.  Dr. Niemela will be available for trauma call at the hospital for injuries below the knee and will also be providing complete pediatric foot and ankle care, including clubfoot casting, congenital deformities, and flatfoot treatment.

On the personal side of me, I am married and have five children, two of my own and three step children. My hobbies include cross country skiing, running, hunting, and enjoying time with my family.

Gregory Bambach, M.D.

A life long Michigan resident, Dr. Bambach received his Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, East Lansing and his Medical Degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Bambach also completed his residency at Wayne State University.

Dr. Bambach is board certified in General Surgery. He also serves as Chief of Staff at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.

John Galey, M.D.

Dr. Galey comes to us from the International Orthopedics & Sports Medicine practice in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Earning his medical degree from the prestigious University of Toronto Medical School in Ontario Canada, Dr. Galey interned at Toronto General Hospital and completed his residency at the University of Ottawa, in Ottawa Ontario.

Dr. Galey is fellowship trained in Joint Replacement & Sports Medicine and is Board Certified through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Galey currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.

Shahar Madjar, M.D., MBA

Urological Surgeon

Dr. Madjar is fellowship-trained in Female Urology and Urogynecology and has completed fellowship programs at the Section of Female Urology and Urodynamics at the University of Miami and at the Section of Female Urology and Voiding dysfunction at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Madjar was deeply involved in the research and development and in clinical trials of several devices for the treatment of women and men with urinary incontinence and bladder control problems.

His past medical education and previous appointments include: Assistant Professor of clinical Urology, Department of Urology, School of Medicine, State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook, NY.

Dr. Madjar is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) and the Society of Urodynamics and Female Urology. He is an accomplished author of two books and has written articles for more than 50 publications in medical literature.

Todd Anderson graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Marian University, Fond du Lac, WI, and a Master of Science from the University of North Dakota. Janet Pratt, PMHNP-BC

Board Certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Janet Pratt graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lake Superior State University.  She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty from Northern Michigan University.  Janet developed a passion for mental health and recognized the need in the Upper Peninsula for advanced practitioners in this field. She pursued and completed a Post-Master’s degree in Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Specialty from the University of South Alabama.

Her practice focuses on adult clients with concerns such as: depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Brenda Barber graduated from the University of Missouri with a dual masters degree in Family and Geriatrics as certified Nurse Practitioner.  She became a certified wound specialist in 2001 through the American Board of Wound Management.  Brenda works full time in the Outpatient Wound Clinic located at the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Medical Office Building at 115 Lake Street.
